If Red Land wasn’t a tournament favorite before Friday, they have to be now.

The York City based team, representing the Mid-Atlantic region, will now go on to play Northwood Little League from South Carolina. Northwood won their opening round game against Rhode Island’s Cranston Western by a score of 7-1.

Red Land’s victory was by far the largest margin of victory of the eight games played during the evening.

They never allowed Webb City a chance, scoring their 18 runs in the first three innings before the mercy rule ended the game in the fourth.

Red Land is now an undefeated 17-0 in the tournament thus far, having outscored its opponents by a monstrous 262-13, a plus 249 run differential.

What’s even impressive is that as they’ve continued in the tournament, and played ostensibly more challenging opponents, they’ve won by even larger margins.

On Sunday, they defeated New Jersey’s Jackson Township by a final score of 12-0 to secure the Mid-Atlantic championship and a berth in the World Series tournament.

As the regional competition turned to a national competition, they tacked six runs on to their previous effort.

Their battle against Northwood Little League is scheduled for Sunday evening, August 23, at 7 p.m.

The game will be aired live on ESPN 2.

If they win, they’ll face the winner of the Southwest (Texas) and the West (California) on Wednesday.

If they lose, they’ll play in an elimination game against the survivor of the Northwest and the Great Lakes.
