Police Make DUI Arrests, Investigate Burglary: Newtown Township Crime Report

Police also investigated an incident of check fraud and responded to a vehicle that had crashed through the front doors of a business.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA ? The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Sept. 19 and 25:

September 19

  • At approximately 10 a.m., a Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters to report a check fraud. The investigation is ongoing.

  • At approximately 1:35 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Toyota pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • At approximately 11:15 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of an Audi SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and Parsons Lane. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

September 24

  • At approximately 4:20 a.m., police were dispatched for a burglary in Wrightstown Township. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Shortly before 3 p.m., police were dispatched for a single vehicle into a building in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
