Police Seize Suspected Narcotics During Newtown Township Traffic Stop

Charges are pending against the driver who was stopped by police on the Newtown Bypass.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA ? Charges are pending against a driver after a traffic stop by the Newtown Township Police yielded suspected narcotics.

On Oct. 6 at about 3:45 a.m., police stopped the driver of a Chevy pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and South State Street.

During the stop, police discovered suspected narcotics, which were seized as evidence.

Charges are pending against the driver.

In other reports, on Oct. 6 at 6:45 p.m. police investigated an attempted identity theft.

Police said an unknown person attempted to open a bank account with a resident's personal information. The attempt was flagged by the bank and denied, police said.

As a result of the incident, the resident suffered no monetary loss.
