Snow In The Forecast For Newtown Area During Super Bowl Sunday

Staying inside a warm, cozy home in Newtown to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers​ may not be such a bad idea.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown residents will definitely want to keep their heaters turned up and blankets nearby during Super Bowl Sunday. A brush of snow is in the forecast - so staying inside to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may not be such a bad idea.

Kickoff time for Super Bowl LV is at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET. That would mean 5:30 p.m. Central, 4:30 p.m. Mountain and 3:30 p.m. PST. Of course, there is no better place to watch the big game than inside a nice warm and toasty home during the cold, snowy weather in the Newtown area. (at least we think so!)

According to the National Weather Service, snow is likely to fall in the Newtown area before 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by both a chance of rain and snow. Residents can expect the day to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 36 degrees. There is a 70 percent chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

New snow accumulation of one to three inches is also possible for Sunday game day.

As for Sunday night, the National Weather Service calls for chance of snow before 8 p.m. As the night sets in, residents can expect partly cloudy skies with a low around 16 degrees and a 30 percent chance of precipitation.

The good news is by Monday, Newtown residents and the surrounding area will see an improvement in the weather with mostly sunny skies and a high near 29 degrees. As for that night, expect mostly cloudy skies with a low around 20 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Sunday: Snow likely before 3pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Tuesday: A chance of snow before 11am, then a chance of rain and snow between 11am and 1pm, then a chance of rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night: A chance of snow before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33.
