Sycamore Street Association renews 'Adopt-a-Bed' Landscaping Program
The association partners with private businesses to provide landscaping to the flower beds on Sycamore Street

The Sycamore Street Community Association announces the renewal of the “Adopt-A-Bed” Landscaping Maintenance Program.
Shawn Ward, president of the Sycamore Street Association, developed the program with Newtown Township officials in 2011. The association partners with private businesses to provide landscaping to the flower beds on Sycamore Street.
Andrew’s Lawn Ranger, performs the work at cost, which is paid by local sponsors, including Walter Leck and his family, which was the first sponsor to sign on in the program. The Leck family, owners of Leck Waste Services, dedicated a double bed at Swamp Road and Sycamore Street in memory of family patriarch George Leck, who passed away in 2010.

Other returning sponsors are United Color Manufacturing, Sycamore Kitchens & More, Tyrol Insurance, Burns Auto Service, and the Green parrot Restaurant and Pub.
“The success of the program could not exist without the continuing support of our business partners a well as that of Township Manager Kurt Ferguson, Public Works Director Ron Weaver and the entire Township Public Works Department,” Ward said in a press release. “I’d like to especially thank Ron Weave, Andrew Norelli and all of our sponsors for the continued success of this program.”

“Thanks to Shawn Ward,” Association President Emeritus Vince Lombardi said in the release. “This just shows how dedicated he is to Sycamore Street and our community and how proud our business and residents are of this street!”
Ward anticipated that the bed will be completed in time for Newtown Welcome Day, which is slated for May 3 on Sycamore. Bed sponsor fees range from $250-$500 per bed.
