Teens Cited for Underage Drinking After Kicking Trash Cans, Police Say

The following information was provided by the Newtown Police Department: 

Newtown Police were dispatched to the area of Grant Street at approximately 12:35 a.m. Friday morning for a report of several juveniles dumping trash cans over and kicking the trash around the street.   

Officers said when they arrived in the area they found three 17-year-old boys who smelled of alcohol. 

Each of the juveniles submitted to a breathalyzer test and all three tested positive for alcohol consumption, according to police.

Police said the parents of the three teens were called, and two of the youths parents picked up their children and the third was released to the parents of a friend.  

Police report the three boys attempted to clean up the trash before they were released to their parents. They will all receive citations, charging them with underage drinking.
