Temperance House Named Newtown Business Of The Year

The Newtown Business Associated presented its awards and recognitions for service in 2020.

NEWTOWN, PA — An historic 18th century restaurant, tavern and motel was recognized as the Business of the Year by the Newtown Business Association.

The NBA recently presented its awards and recognitions for service in 2020, which proved to be a supremely challenging year for local businesses and service organizations.

The Temperance House was recognized as business of the year for its free meals program for local fighters, first responders, paramedics, doctors and nurses fighting COVID-19 in Bucks County.

The restaurant reportedly donated more than 1,000 meals to those essential workers while also launching a good drive where it collected more than 1,000 pounds of groceries.

President's Award: Denise Alexander, Bucks County Community College; Dan Petty, Edward Jones Investments. The pair led the NBA's "Emerging Leaders" group.

Community Service Award: Matt Peters, Weed Man Bucks County. Peters serves as chair of the Newtown Township Economic Development Committee and hosts and produces the NBA's "All Around Newtown" interview program on Facebook.

Distinguished Service Award: Dave Marcolla, The David Marcolla Group. Marcolla is a realtor with Keller Williams Real Estate in Newtown. He was recognized

NBA Humanitarian Award: Newtown First Responders including Newtown Ambulance Chief Evan Resnikoff; Newtown Township Police Chief John Hearn; Newtown Borough Police Chief James Sabath; Newtown Fire Chief Glenn Forsyth; and Newtown Fire Association President Warren Dallas.

Unsung Hero Award: Kelsey Jordan, KGD Films. Jordan is a videographer who gave her time and talent to the NBA throughout 2020.

Outgoing NBA board members Laura Weber-Carnevale and Ken Ogborn were recognized for their service.
