The original recipe of Vince's Pizzeria dates to 1946, when Charlie Yachovetti started selling pizza on cardboard wrapped in brown paper out of his row home at the corner of Goodman and Rising Sun Avenue in North Philadelphia, Heather explains.
Here's more about the history of the pizzeria, according to the owner:
Charlie retired in 1959 and his children Viola (Vince Rota), Angelo Yachovetti (Margaret), Lucy (Bill Rieger) and their spouses open Charlies Pizzeria at 4300 Roosevelt Blvd. They have enjoyed tremendous success at this location and are still in operation today. In 1988 Vince, Viola, Angelo and Margaret decided it was time to retire and sold their shares of the business to Bill and Lucy. In May of 1988, the children of Vince and Viola decided to carry on the tradition and opened Vince's Pizzeria on Grant Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, which is still in operation today.
"Vince's Pizzeria is regarded and has been featured as one of the best pizzas in Philadelphia and people travel miles and wait for hours just to have a taste," Heather said.
While she and her husband are the sole owners of the new location in Wrightstown, they'll have help and guidance from Ed's parents, the owners of Vince's Pizzeria in Northeast Philadelphia. "We will feature the same menu as Vince's NE with the addition of some signature pies the family enjoys as well as salads served family style," she said.
Now for more on that self-serve beer wall. The concept is popular on the West Coast, and just starting to make its way to the East Coast, Heather explains.
Vince's will feature a wall of 20 taps at its Wrightstown eatery. Patrons can pour their own beer, and pay by the ounce with a coded card.
"We will feature a diverse selection of craft beers, microbrews, wine, ciders and specialty beer that has never been more popular," she said.
The beer wall selections will change weekly.
The atmosphere will be family-friendly, Heather said, noting the couple has four children of their own.
