Norristown Native Buys, Then Donates House Of Childhood Best Friend

He was going to "flip" the house. But something didn't feel quite right.

Norristown native and real-estate investor Lenny Bazmore recently bought a home on 52 West Basin Street with the intention of flipping it.

But at the last minute, he said that something didn’t feel quite right.

The house had been the childhood home of his best friend, across the street from where Bazmore grew up.

He described it as the “safe haven across the street” where he received advice that “shaped him” as a man.

He wanted to do the right thing. Bazmore said he was on the verge of becoming a college athlete when he got into trouble and couldn’t follow his dream. WIth this home, he felt the opportunity to make a positive difference.

So he decided to donate the home to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County.

Along with $50,000 to renovate it.

He said he hoped his gift would inspire other investors and business owners to discover and invest in Norristown, his childhood hometown.
