Air Quality Alert in Effect for North Allegheny Area

Some people should avoid exercising outside on Sunday, June 23.

An air quality alert is in effect in Allegheny County for Sunday, June 23.

The code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, the elderly and people suffering from asthma, heart disease or lung diseases.

The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

The forecast calls for a high near 87 on Sunday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
