McCandless Police Chief, Lieutenant: No Disciplinary Action Yet

Chief David DiSanti and Lt. Jeffrey Basl will be permitted to address the allegations against them before a disciplinary decision is made.

McCANDLESS, PA - Embattled Police Chief David DiSanti and Lt. Jeffrey Basl will be allowed to respond to misconduct accusations before council decides whether to take disciplinary action against them.

Town officials made that announcement Monday night at a packed council meeting after council members met in executive session for more than an hour. No other information was provided regarding the fate of the two men, who have been on paid leave since October.

KDKA-TV reported the investigation involves alleged sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior toward a female officer. She has accused DiSanti of trying to kiss her while she was in uniform at his home, according to the station. KDKA also reported that Basl allegedly made lewd and inappropriate comments while on the hob.

DiSanti has denied any wrongdoing, according to KDKA. The female officer has not been identified.

DiSanti last week received a vote of no confidence from the McCandless Police Officer's Association. Twenty four officers affirmed the no confidence vote, one officer opposed and one abstained.
