McCandless Police Officers Vote No Confidence In Chief

Chief David DiSanti reportedly has been on paid leave during an investigation.

McCANDLESS, PA - Embattled Police Chief David DiSanti has received a vote of no confidence from the McCandless Police Officer’s Association. Twenty four officers affirmed the no confidence vote, one officer opposed and one abstained.

A letter from the police union to the town council revealing the results of the vote appeared on social media Wednesday. Council plans to meet in executive session Monday to discuss the situation.

“We feel that the integrity of the department, as well as the community for which we have pledged our lives and careers, is at stake,” the letter stated. “As such, we cannot stand idly by without making the opinions of the officers, which are the backbone of this great department, explicitly known.”

In October, two officers were placed on paid leave pending an investigation of what has been described by township officials as a personnel matter. The officers have yet to be publicly identified, but according to the union they are DiSanti and Lt. Jeffrey Basl.
