North Allegheny Cheerleaders Win Second Place at PIAA Championships

This is the first year that the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association made Girls Competitive Spirit a championship sport.

North Allegheny cheerleaders won second place at the first-ever PIAA competitive spirit championships, then traveled to Florida for a national competition.

This is the first year that the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association made girls competitive spirit a championship sport. NA competed in the Medium Varsity Division in the Feb. 2 event at Hershey Park Arena.

After the state contest, NA earned a semi-finalist spot at the Universal Cheerleading Association's 2013 National High School Cheerleading competition in the Large Varsity Division I. The competition was held from Feb. 7 to 11 in Orlando.

In January, NA place fourth in the WPIAL's competitive spirit competition.

ESPN will air the nationals competition in March and April. Click here for dates and times. The first-ever PIAA competitive spirit finals will be broadcast at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 on PCN.

  • 1st place - New Oxford
  • 2nd place - North Allegheny
  • 3rd place - Avon Grove
  • 4th place - Southern Lehigh
  • 5th place - Easton Area
  • 6th place - Spring Grove
  • 7th place - Archbishop Wood
