Scholarship Opportunity for Allegheny Students Ends November 14

Chaffin Luhana, LLP is holding an essay contest for a $2,500 scholarship for students in Allegheny County.

Pennsylvania based law firm Chaffin Luhana, LLP is awarding nearly $5,000 worth of scholarships in 2016-2017. In an attempt to raise awareness of this issue, the firm is conducting a nationwide anti-distracted driving essay contest for current or soon-to-be college students.

Over 37,000 people die in automobile accidents in the U.S. every year and of those, approximately 64% of these accidents include a cell phone. With the large number of people on the roads any given day and the constant use of technology devices, distracted driving is becoming a bigger and bigger issue. As personal injury lawyers in Pittsburgh, founding partners Eric Chaffin and Roopal Luhana, are passionate about putting an end to distracted driving crash across the country.

One student in Allegheny County has the chance to win a $2,500 school scholarship to be used on tuition, books, room and board, or other educational needs. The essay contest deadline is November 14, 2016.

To apply, the student must be:
  • Currently registered at an accredited high school, college, or university in Allegheny County
  • Going into or in the senior year of high school or enrolled as an undergraduate student
  • Under the age of 25 as of November 14, 2016
In order to apply, students are asked to submit a 500-750 word essay on one of three topics regarding distracted driving:
  • Personal experience with the subject
  • A distracted driving campaign
  • How technology impacts distracted driving crashes
