Squirrels Store More Than 200 Walnuts In Pittsburgh Woman's Car

You'll be amazed at what's under the hood of the vehicle.

FRANKLIN PARK, PA - With winter on the way, squirrels have been doing what they do every autumn: hoarding nuts to survive the season. As a Pittsburgh-area woman discovered, some squirrels are obsessive hoarders.

Holly Persic of suburban Franklin Park called her husband, Chris Persic, Monday to let him know her vehicle was making an odd sound and a burning smell was coming from it. He told her to check under the hood and when she did she discovered more than 200 walnuts and a bunch of grass.

"Long story short, if you park outside, do yourself a favor and check under the hood ever once in a while," Chris Persic advised on Facebook. "Holly's (car) looked like they were storing up for the next three winters. Was absolutely nuts...no pun intended."
