Beloved Highcliff Elementary Crossing Guard Dies

Frank Kodrich, better known to students as "Mr. Frank" was 72.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - From his position at Timberlane Drive during arrival or dismissal at Highcliff Elementary School, Frank Kodrich touched the lives of many students over the years. Mr. Kodrich, 72, died on Feb. 7.

“He always had a smile on his face and kind words for our students and their families,” principal . Kristy Bilderback said. “Many students referred to him fondly as Mr. Frank and looked forward to interacting with him on a daily basis. I know that he made many of our students’ days brighter by greeting them or saying goodbye with a smile and a wave.”

Mr. Kodrich has the husband of the late Patricia A. (Rodman) Kodrich; father of Amy Johnston (Ellsworth), Kimberly McGee Dashiell (George), and Frank R. Kodrich III (Julie) and grandfather of Ryan, Allyson, Jack, and Frankie.

Friends will be received received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, where a Blessing Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to benefit Highcliff students may be made to North Hills Foundation c/o Lori Rieger, North Hills School District, 135 6th Ave., Pgh., PA 15229.

“We will truly miss Mr. Frank and all that he gave to the Highcliff community,” Bilderback said.
