Beware Of Jury Duty Scam, Ross Police Warn
The scam has been making the rounds in the township, police say.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Police are warning residents to be careful not to fall for a jury duty phone scam that has been occurring in the township.
The scam usually begins with a telephone call or email advising someone that they have missed jury duty and an arrest warrant has been issued. The caller may inquire about the person's availability to participate in jury duty.
The caller may then request confidential information such as date of birth, Social Security number, credit card and/or bank account information or demand that payment be made through a money transfer service to clear the warrant.

The caller als0 might ask for a gift cards as payment. These perpetrators may use real names of persons or other means in order to make the scam appear believable.
Police caution that Allegheny County courts do not seek any information from jurors via telephone. Nor do any court employees request banking or financial information by phone.

Anyone receiving one of these calls is advised to hang up and report it to police.
