Emergency Delcaration Made In Ross

The declaration is the result of damage from Thursday's flash flooding.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Ross officials on Friday signed an emergency declaration that should make it easier to more quickly fix the large sinkhole that opened on McKnight Circle during Thursday's flash flooding. The declaration was signed by township commission

chairman Steve Korbel and acting township manager Dan Berty.

The declaration allows the township to act "in the best interest of public welfare and safety" in taking steps to remediate the damage.

Township officials cautioned Friday that there is the potential for lane restrictions or closures on the southbound side of McKnight and that work will continue until the sinkhole problem is resolved. Motorist are urged to exercise caution in the area.

People living in the nearby Waldorf Park Apartments must take detours to get to McKnight Road because of the sinkhole issue.
