
It is never too late to learn something new, and the fall semester at the nearby Community College of Allegheny (CCAC) North campus in McCandless begins in a few short days on August 19. Â
Here are five courses to learn a new skill offered at CCAC that are still open for enrollment.Â
1. Ceramics I
Learn the basics of turning clay into your own ceramic creation. Students will learn different techniques for creating including wheel throwing and slab and coil. Students will also learn the basics of firing and glazing to finish their creations.  Times: Tuesday mornings 8:30 to 12:40 or Tuesday afternoons 1:00 to 5:10

2.)Â Elementary American Sign Language 1
Learn how to receive and express American Sign Language (ASL) in this beginners level course. Time: Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 12:00
3.)Â Computer Fundamentals and ApplicationÂ
Learn how to use a computer with this course on the basics. Students will learn about the software and hardware of a Microsoft computer. The course covers skills like word processing, creating spreadsheets, making presentations and creating databases. Students will also learn how to navigate the Internet and how to use email.ÂTime: Monday and Wednesday mornings 10:00 to 11:15
4.)Â Elementary Chinese 1
Learn a new language with this course. Students will focus on speaking, reading and writing Chinese. Time: Thursday nights 6:00 to 9:10
5.)Â Introduction to Business 1
Learn the basics of modern business. Not available to students who already have six or more business credits.Time: Wednesday nights 6:00 to 9:10
