McKnight Road Butcher Shop is Coming Very Soon, Manager Promises

A new butcher shop focused on providing both local meats and meats prepared according to Jewish dietary laws is still waiting on its final inspection.

Mr. Butcher, a new shop on McKnight Road promising to deliver both Kosher and local organic meats to the North Hills area, is still waiting on its final inspection with the Allegheny County Health Department but should open soon, said its manager Jay Mahood.

"I'll know better Monday exactly what date (we will open)," Mahood said.

The new shop is located at 7777 McKnight Road and has 2,000-square-feet of space.

Mahood said he plans to offer meats prepared according to Jewish dietary laws as well as local organic meats from farms around the Pittsburgh area.

The Kosher meats and cheeses will be shipped in from three companies in New Jersey and New York and sold pre-packaged, he said, declining to go into more specifics until the shop was ready for business.

He said local and organic meats will be provided by Pittsburgh-area farmers, including chicken, lamb, goat and beef.

"Folks won't be disappointed," he said.

This is the first retail shop Mahood has run, he said. He used to own a restaurant in Downtown Pittsburgh, Casa D'Positano.

The owners of the shop are from New York.
