ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Nearly 120 dogs were rescued Wednesday evening from a Ridgeside Road home in such unsanitary condition that township police and Animal Friends staff had to don hazmat suits to safely enter.

Animal Friends said in a Facebook post that it intervened in a "hoarding situation." Several of the canines were emaciated and in need of immediate medical attention. Animal Friends has a veterinarian and several veterinary technicians at the site to evaluate the animals before they were taken away.

Animal Friends is asking for donations to help care for the large number of dogs. As of Thursday morning, nearly $7,000 in contributions had been made,.
