North Hills School Directors Choose Board President, VP

The school board held its annual reorganization meeting on Wednesday.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — There will be no leadership changes on the North Hills School Board for 2021. School directors on Wednesday Allison Mathis was reappointed board president and Helen "Dee" Slade was reappointed vice president.

Mathis has served on the board since 2017 and was elected board president last year. A former PTO president, she is an active parent volunteer who has served as chair of the district’s education committee for the last two years.

Mathis is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and her professional background is in communications and project management. She has two children attending school in the district.

“I thank my colleagues on the board for electing me president,” Mathis said in a district release. "It has been a challenging year, an unprecedented year, but I firmly believe that, while we may not always agree, if we continue to support each other and if we work as an effective team, the entire district will benefit."

School director Rachael Rennebeck will serve as the second Northern Area Special Purpose Schools board representative. Sandra Kozera was nominated and will serve as legislative chairperson for 2021.
