North Hills to Create Its Own iPad App

The North Hills School Board approved an agreement with MiaMar Mobile Technologies to create an application to track teacher evaluations.

The is getting an upgrade mobile world. The school board approved an agreement to allow MiaMar Mobile Technologies to create a personalized iPad application for teachers.

The app will be used for gathering information on teacher observations and evaluations, said Jeffery Taylor, the Director of Curriculum and Assessment. With this information, administrators can better learn how to supervise teachers.

The software will cost $5,850, with half due upon signing the agreement and half due when the software actually arrives in the hands of the district. The initial license for the product will be good until September 1, 2012, at which point the district will have to pay $1,170 for each year they wish to renew it.

The vote was unanimous, and most board members seemed to agree with the possible success the app could bring.

“That’s an administrative issue,” said board member Robert Barto. “We have to approve it.”

It is hoped that the app will save paper and also contribute to easier data collection in the future.
