North Hills to Host Middle Schoolers for Math Competition Thursday
More than 100 students from area middle schools will compete in the Probability Fair at the junior high school.

The Allegheny Math Partnership is hosting a Probability Fair from 9:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at .Â
More than 100 students from area middle schools will compete in several probability exercises and useAlice, a 3D software tool that helps teach computer programming. It was developed by Carnegie Mellon University.Â
In addition to middle school math teachers, several high school students currently enrolled in Advanced Placement Statistics will assist with the event. Prizes will be awarded to students who score the most points.Â

Other participating school districts include Avonworth, Crawford Central, Mars, North Allegheny, Riverside and Springdale. The event is organized by the Allegheny Math Partnership, an organization comprised of secondary math teachers who meet monthly to collaborate.Â
