Regatta Organizer Charged With Open Lewdness, DUI

Police arrested Derek Weber after responding to reports of a man urinating in a North Hills Village parking lot.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Former Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta promoter Derek Weber is facing charges after police responded to reports of a man urinating in a North Hills Village parking lot. Weber was charged after police found an empty bottle of liquor under his seat and he failed several sobriety tests.

Weber, 44, heads LionHeart Event Group, which promoted the regatta for years before this year's event was abruptly canceled just three days before it was scheduled to occur. City and regatta officials said LionHeart had misrepresented the status of payments and insurance related to the event and had not met critical benchmarks to ensure it could go forward.

LionHeart since has filed for bankruptcy and city police have launched a criminal investigation into the company, which owes creditors nearly $750,000.
