Ross Police Warn Of Home Rental Scammers
Scammers are targeting those looking to rent homes, police said.
ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Township police are investigating several home rental scams that recently originated online.
According to a post on the department's Facebook page, the scammer will pull up past sale listing pictures of a home from a real estate website and post them on Craigslist advertising that the house is for rent. When the victim contacts the scammer, the victim is asked for first month's rent and security deposit for the house. By the time the victim realizes that the home isn't for rent, their money is gone.
Police did not specify how many people have fallen for the scam.
