Williams Defeats Shaffer For PA 38th District Senate Seat
The West View resident posted a narrow victory over the Ross commissioner.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Democrat Lindsey Williams won Pennsylvania’s 38th Senate District seat Tuesday after a razor-thin victory over Republican Jeremy Shaffer. Williams had 58,718 votes to Shaffer’s 58,101, according to Pennsylvania Department of State unofficial returns.
Williams, of West View, ran against Shaffer, a Ross commissioner, to replace outgoing Sen. Randy Vulakovich. Shaffer defeated Vulakovich for the GOP nomination in the May primary.
Williams took a leave of absence from her job as communications director for the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, which represents Pittsburgh Public School instructors, to run for office.. Shaffer is president of a software company specializing in bridge and transportation infrastructure.

The 38th District includes the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Highland Park and Lincoln-Lemington, as well as Ross, West View, Marshall, McCandless, Aspinwall, Blawnox, Brackenridge, Bradford Woods, Cheswick, Etna, Fox Chapel, Franklin Park, Millvale, Springdale, Tarentum, East Deer, Fawn, Frazer, Hampton, Harmar, Harrison, Indiana, O'Hara, Pine, Richland, Springdale and West Deer.
