Das Awkscht Fest 50th Anniversary and Musikfest This Weekend Near North Whitehall

The 50th Annual Das Awkscht Fescht (The August Festival), one of the largest antique and classic car shows in the country, rolls into Macungie Memorial Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Buick is this year’s featured car. Music, fireworks, food and crafts. www.awkscht.com

Here are the headlining performers this weekend: Friday, Carly Rae Jepsen; Saturday, OneRepublic with Mayer Hawthorne and Churchill; and Sunday, Skillet, We As Human, Decyfer Down, Thousand Foot Krutch. There are also dozens of free venues this weekend.

35th Annual Drum Corps International Eastern Classic. The country's top young percussion and brass bands with color guards will compete this weekend at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown. The top 12 corps go to the finals in Indianapolis. Starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 7 p.m. Sunday.

Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown hosts a full lineup of events this weekend. Friday is highlighted by the World Series of Bicycling events at 7 p.m. Saturday's events start with Squirts lessons at 8 a.m., Pee-Wee Pedalers at 9 a.m., followed by Masters & Rookie races at noon. Sunday features practice for the Rodale Community Challenge, beginning at 3 p.m. Valley Preferred Cycling Center, 1151 Mosser Road.
