LCCC Partners with Civic Theatre of Allentown to Offer New Credit Class beginning Fall 2017

Students will have the opportunity to learn about theatre in a new class that is being offered by Lehigh Carbon Community College in partnership with the Civic Theatre of Allentown. Students can sign up now for this fall semester class, Introduction to Theatre Arts, which starts on Friday, August 25. Classes are scheduled on Fridays from 9:35 a.m. to 12:31 p.m. at the Civic Theatre, 514 North 19th Street, Allentown, Pa.

This three-credit class will introduce the student to various forms of theatre ranging from the Ancient Greek to the contemporary forms of plays performed today. By reading as well as attending actual productions, the student will learn about the important role theatre plays in society. Students will become familiar with drama, theatre history and theatre production and will have hands-on exposure to acting, directing, playwriting and stagecraft. This course will serve as a foundation for the students to engage in and explore more advanced and specialized fields of the entertainment industry. The course may also be eligible for the student to transfer credits to a four-year theatre program.
