Residents to Get Chance to Address Alternate Sewage Treatment Plant Location

North Whitehall Supervisors meeting on Monday marks an opportunity for residents to address an alternate sewage treatment plant location with supervisors who weren't present for unveiling of the plan last week.

The agenda for the North Whitehall Supervisors meeting on Monday at 7:30 p.m. is short 3256 but there will be a chance for residents to address supervisors who weren't present for last week's presentation about a sewage treatment.

Supervisor Steve Pany told planning commission last week that he and his fellow supervisors, Ronald Heintzelman and Mark Hills, voted last February to move ahead with another Act 537 Plan that could pave the way for a plant to be built between Levans and Shankweiler roads along the PA Turnpike.

Since Heintzelman and Hills weren't there for Pany's presentation, a resident asked if Pany was speaking for himself or the entire board. Pany said he was delegated to speak on the entire board's behalf.

An organized group of community activists, known as The Voice of Jordan, have been actively opposing a sewage treatment plant proposed by Lehigh County Authority in another location along Jordan Road near KidsPeace.

Supervisors approved a conditional-use waiver for the Jordan Road proposal with a list of conditions two weeks ago. If the Act 537 that Pany is proposing determines his idea is feasible then there would be no immediate need for LCA's plan.
