Proposed North Whitehall Heliport Hearings will Continue into 2013

Dr. Michael Selig has asked zoners for permission to build a private heliport and airport runway on his North Whitehall property.

Public hearings regarding a proposed heliport/airport on private property at 5471 Route 309 in Schnecksville will continue into 2013 as opponents continue to testify against a special exception request brought forth by the property owner, Dr. Michael Selig.

Township Manager Jeff Bartlett said hearings were continued again when nearby residents who oppose the proposed heliport/airport did not finish testifying during a Dec. 13 hearing. Hearings have been ongoing since October.

"They’ve made their argument and now it’s repetitive but they have their day in court," Bartlett said. "They are dragging this on for six hearings - it's frustrating and costs the township a considerable amount of money."

A new hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the North Whitehall Township Building on Levans Road.
