The work is part of the $5.4 million Route 309 reconstruction project from Education Drive to Sand Spring Road. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in November.

Route 309 is a heavily traveled road, with nearly 20,000 vehicles driving it daily in both directions north of the Sand Spring Road intersection and nearly 22,000 south of the intersection.
