When Does New Wegmans Pub Open?

If the speed that food samples flew off the polished granite bar top Monday at the new Pub at Wegmans on Tilghman Street in Allentown is any kind of barometer, this place is going to be a hit when it opens to the public on Wednesday.

As fast as chefs could crank the dishes out, guests at the pre-opening tasting event snapped up mouth-watering samples, such as:

• "Rigs" with Geno’s Monday Sauce (Executive Chef Geno Nosenzo's homemade rigatoni with San Marzano tomatoes, feta and olive oil sauce)
• Amore steak (tender sirloin, roasted Yukon potato, with garlic cheese butter, arugula and roasted tomatoes)
• Prince Edward Island mussels steamed in ale and a shallot-thyme butter sauce

The Pub at Wegmans opens 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and seats guests until 9 p.m.

• Sunday-Thursday: 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Friday: 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
