Administrators Put 4 Officers Related to Friday's Chase, Crash, and Shooting On Leave
One Easton and three Palmer officers are now on administrative leave. Authorities cite their involvement in the Scheuermann shooting.

The four police officers involved in last Friday’s chase that ended in the death of a motorist have been placed on administrative leave. Three of the officers are from the Palmer police; the last is on the Easton force.
Chief Larry Palmer told The (Easton) Express Times said that details of the involvement won’t be released, when the ongoing State Police investigation is closed.
Authorities allege that 39-year-old Robert Scheuermann was driving the wrong way on a township road early Friday and led them on a 20-minute chase before crashing into a utility police in Easton, after which he reversed twice into a cruiser.

A Palmer township officer and an Easton officer opened fire on 39-year-old Robert Scheuermann, following a 20-minute car chase. Authorities report that Scheuermann crashed into a utility pole and backed into the police cruisers twice, prompting the officers’ fire. When they went to his vehicle they found that Scheuermann had slashed his own neck.
