5 Homeless After Palmer Fire Saturday

A one-story store and a two-story apartment building on Greenway Street in Palmer Township were heavily damaged by fire early Saturday.

Fire crews battled a blaze that heavily damaged a one-story former store building in the 3500 block of Greenway Street off Freemansburg Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, according to WFMZ.

The former store is attached to a two-story apartment that was occupied by five people when the fire began. All of the residents got out unharmed and are being assisted by the Red Cross, according to Palmer Township police.

The complex also includes a small strip mall and Fellowship Baptist Church, which were not damaged, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Crews from Palmer Township, Forks Township, Williams Township, Se-Wy-Co, Hecktown and Suburban EMS responded, according to Lehigh Valley Live.
