First Star Bank Electronic Message Sign Still On Hold

Bank requests continuance until June.

First Star Bank has asked for a continuation from the Palmer Township Zoning Hearing Board for the bank’s proposed electronic message board sign.

Representatives from the bank were scheduled to appear before the zoners at Tuesday’s meeting to continue discussion on an application to construct the sign at the Park Avenue location, just outside the Palmer Park Mall. According to township officials, the hearing was tabled until the June meeting because bank representatives could not present all of its witnesses.

The bank wants to construct an electronic message board that is expected to exceed 10 feet in height -- the maximum allowable under township ordinances.

Last month, the Bethlehem-based bank officially opened its doors in the former Sovereign Bank location after relocating from Northwood Avenue.

The next zoning meeting is scheduled for 7:30pm June 7 in the library meeting room of the Palmer Memorial Library, 1 Weller Place.
