Five Things to Know This Week

Here are five things to know happening in Palmer and Forks townships this week:

1. The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for 7 tonight has been canceled. The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, Aug. 23.
2. The Easton Area School District will host 9th-grade orientation this week. Sessions will run from 9am to 11am Tuesday and 6:30pm to 8:30pm Thursday at the Easton Area High School, 2601 William Penn Highway. For more information, contact 610-250-2481.
3. The Palmer Township Planning Commission will meet at 7pm Tuesday in the meeting room at the Palmer Memorial Library, 1 Weller Place.
4. The Forks Township Planning Commission will meet at 7pm Thursday in the municipal building at 1606 Sullivan Trail.
5. On this day today in 1974, President Richard Nixon announced in a nationally televised broadcast that he would resign effective at noon the following day as a result of the Watergate scandal.
