Five Things to Know This Week

Open houses scheduled; the area public library hosts an event at Palmer Park Mall

With the new school year just about under way in one week, Patch has compiled a special list of several, not just five, things to know about what's going on in Palmer and Forks townships this week:

1. Several open-house events are being held at schools.

On Tuesday:

will host newcomer night for grades 1 to 4 at 5pm.

It's Kindergarten orientation night at , Elementary, Shawnee Elementary and schools. All events begin at 6pm with the exception of Cheston, which starts at 6:30pm.

On Wednesday:

Palmer Elementary School will host an open house from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

On Thursday:

Shawnee Elementary School will hold an open house for parents at 6:30pm.

2. The Board of Supervisors will meet at 7pm Tuesday in the meeting room of the Palmer Memorial Library, 1 Weller Place.

3. The Planning Commission will meet for a workshop at 7pm Tuesday in the municipal building, 1606 Sullivan Trail. 

4.The second annual event will be held at the l on Saturday from 11am to 3pm. All proceeds from sales go toward supporting the area library system.

5. And finally, remember parents and students, the 2011-2012 school year for the Easton Area School District begins one week from today on Monday, Aug. 29.
