Forks Education Center to Host PA One Book Reader

In support of early literacy, the Greater Valley YMCA Forks Education Center will be hosting a guest reader.

In support of early literacy, the Greater Valley YMCA Forks Education Center hosted a guest reader on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 1350 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA. Kathy Kashner from Northampton Community College shared with young readers the 2018 PA One Book, Every Young Child selection, My Cousin Momo by author and illustrator Zachariah OHora.

“This is our fifth year participating with the PA One Book program,” stated Forks Education Center Early Childhood Education Director, Julie Novick. “Our children love the opportunity to have a guest from our community share their time and support for early literacy. And it’s great to hear a good book!”

The PA One Book, Every Young Child is Pennsylvania’s collaborative project using the vehicle of “One Book, One State” program to highlight the importance of early literacy development.

This is the thirteenth year the One Book, Every Young Child program has promoted the importance of early literacy by emphasizing the importance of reading early and often to children, as well as engaging them in conversation and other activities around books.

For the past 14 years, the Forks Education Center has served the Easton community. As a Keystone STAR 4 center, Forks Education Center prides itself in providing quality early learning opportunities to an average 200 children from birth to school age each year.
