Miracle League's Field of Dreams Closer to Reality

Organization gets approval to accept donations

The field of dreams that will give physically challenged children a place to play is one step closer to reality.

The Miracle League of Northampton County has received approval from the IRS to accept donations for its planned baseball field project. The estimated $450,000 construction will be located adjacent to the Charles Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township.

The non-profit organization builds specially designed baseball fields for children with disabilities. There are currently 240 custom baseball diamonds across the nation, each of which are made up of a rubberized surface that accommodates wheelchairs and other assisting devices.

The hope is to have the field open in spring of 2012. However, donations are needed in order to start construction. With the new IRS approval, donations can be accepted and the fundraising campaign can officially begin.

In December, Miracle League announced that one of these specialized fields would be coming to the community center for the use of families throughout Northampton County.
