Palmer to Recognize Special Olympian

Craig Maurer is a hometown hero. 

He recently competed in the 2011 Special Olympics Summer Games in Athens, Greece, coming home with four medals, including a gold in powerlifting. For his efforts he will receive honors from the Palmer Township Board of Supervisors on July 26.

Maurer won one gold, two silver and a bronze in the categories of bench press, dead lift, squat lift and combination lift.
