Teen Pageant Contestant Hosts Youth Diabetes Awareness Program

Julia Wilkins of Palmer helps to promote healthy eating and diabetes awareness among kids

Julia Wilkins, a resident of Palmer Township and a contestant in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant System was on hand at the of the Easton Area Public Library Saturday to promote healthy eating and diabetes awareness.

Wilkins is the Miss Light of the Firefly Outstanding Teen 2011 winner. Fireflies are the Pennsylvania state insect.

She, along with Emily Doyle of Honey Brook, PA, also a contestant in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant system read books, gave out healthy snacks, recipes, made crafts and held a raffle for youth who attended. Wilkins platform for the pageant is raising awareness about healthing eating and diabetes.
