Perkiomen Voters Reject School District Borrowing $2M For Turf

A referendum question on Tuesday's ballot asked if voters supported the school district borrowing $2 million for artificial turf fields.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA — A referendum question on Tuesday's ballot asking if voters supported the school district borrowing $2 million for artificial turf fields was defeated.

The measure was soundly defeated, with 4,932 voting "no" to the funding and with 1,821 voting "yes."

The money would have been used for a series of multi-purpose artificially surfaced athletic fields. Soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, football, baseball, softball, marching band, and physical education classes would all get use out of a 225 foot by 360 foot surface that would be located on the hilltop behind the high school.
