Philly Cheesesteak Spot Featured In 'Jeopardy!' Question Thursday

The question stumped two of the three contestants, most likely due to roast pork being in this South Philly establishment's name.

PHILADELPHIA — It's always nice to see Philly get a positive shoutout on national TV, and the city got just that on "Jeopardy!" Thursday night when a South Philly staple got its own question.

During Thursday night's game, the contestants were given this question:

"Hey youse guys! U.S. News raved about this sandwich from John's Roast Pork in Philadelphia."

One contestant answered "dipped pork sandwich" and the other said "pork sandwich" and "pork roll."

The answers were incorrect, but make some sense given roast pork is in John's name.

But that would be a little too on the nose.

The two-day champion, Devin Rossiter, however, nailed the question.

The correct answer was, say it with us, "cheesesteak."

John's Roast Pork took to Facebook Thursday to share their excitement with fans of their offerings.

"JOHN'S ROAST PORK was on tonight's episode of JEOPARDY," the post reads. "So honored & humbled!!!! How excited my customers became is so special to my family & ME!!!

Here's a tip from us at Philadelphia Patch: regardless of the "Jeopardy!" answer, get a cheesesteak AND a roast pork sandwich if you go to John's, you won't be disappointed.
