A Brief Interview with Michael Mizwinski

Michael Mizwinski will be performing with Mikey B at Steel City Coffee House in Phoenixville on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

How's your summer going?

Going great! Although I'm still getting used to not being able to drive a few miles away and take a nice refreshing swim in a lake or stream. I moved to the Jersey City area a year ago and it's been so HOT!

What have you worked on in the past year that you're most happy with?

I'm in the process of writing a bunch of new material right now and I'd love to name one of my new songs but they aren't quite ready yet. However this past year I wrote a song called "Anyway" that is definitely one of my best songs to date. Here's a version from Rockwood Music Hall in NYC:

Are you a bigger Phish or Grateful Dead fan?

Wow thats a tough question. I was lucky enough to see the Grateful Dead with Garcia twice at the ripe young age of 12. And that changed my life and led me to bands like Phish so I'll have to say: 51% Dead - 49% Phish. Although the answer to that question also depends on my mood and state of mind on any given day.

What's your favorite song to perform live right now?

"Anyway"! The same song I mentioned above. I feel that it has all the elements of a powerful song- strong hooks, catchy lyrics, several sections, and a great chord progression to jam over right in the middle.
