Caitlyn Carminito Running For Phoenixville Area SD Director

Pennsylvania's Primary Election is May 18. Caitlyn Carminito is a candidate in Phoenixville Area School District for School Board Director at Large. She's been a teacher for more than a decade.

She explained why she is running for election.

Age: 35

Position Sought: Phoenixville Area School District, School Board Director at Large.

Party Affiliation: Democrat

Family: My husband James and I bought our first house in Phoenixville 10 years ago. We call this beautiful town our home with our two young children, our almost 5-year-old Nico, and 3-year-old Willa.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?: No

Education: I have undergraduate degrees from West Chester University in special education and elementary education. I have also earned a master’s degree from WCU in literacy and reading specialist certification.

Occupation: I have had the pleasure of being a teacher since I graduated in 2008. I taught special education at the elementary level and currently teach general education at the elementary level.

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: None

Why are you seeking elective office?: As an educator and mother, I feel passionate about the continued growth and progress of our schools in providing an equitable education that supports all our students and families.

The single most pressing issue facing our district is: The single most pressing issue facing our board is continuing to move forward in our growth and progress that pushes Phoenixville Area School District to be a world-class district.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: I bring firsthand knowledge and understanding of what needs to be done in order to make our schools a place where people want to be. Being a teacher in public schools provides me the opportunity to see the daily challenges and gives me invaluable insight into how we can provide the best education for our students.
