Community Members Honored for Coming to Another's Aid

Several community members were honored Wednesday at the East Pikeland Township Board of Supervisors meeting for saving a man’s life in December.

Around 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, East Pikeland Township Police responded to a call of a man slumped over a steering wheel at the intersection of Pothouse Road and Route 113, police said.

The driver, Gary Moyer, was having a heart attack. When police arrived, people had gathered around Moyer and placed him on the ground, police said.

Nurses who were passing by stopped to perform C.P.R., police said. “Officer Pat Ehmann retrieved the A.E.D. from the patrol vehicle, and it was applied to Mr. Moyer’s chest and a shock was delivered,” police said.

“A community came together to save a man they didn’t even know,” East Pikeland Police said.

Moyer was present at the meeting Wednesday “to thank everyone involved for saving his life,” police said.
