French Creek Housing Plan Approved In Phoenixville: Report

The borough council has approved another housing development on what might be the "final developable piece of land," reports state.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- The borough council has approved another housing development on what might be the "final developable piece of land," reports state.

The 37-acre open space area west of south Main Street and north of French Creek, now called "French Creek West," by developers, will be turned into 311 town homes and 240 apartment units, according to reports.

The approval vote of the conceptual master plan was a 6-1 decision.

A walking trail and four acres of public parking are included in the plan, the Daily Local News reports.

Some council members reportedly disapproved of the project's accessibility and its impact on area traffic, especially on Nutt Road and Main Street.

In the plan, a walking bridge over French Creek provides access to Paradise Street.

Developers reportedly said Phoenixville's walkability was a major reason for their decision to build.

They added that the future residents of the townhomes and apartments would have "disposable income" and would improve businesses in town, reports state.
