Insurance Agent Dies at 53

David P. Dougherty, age 53, husband of Tracy L. (Carter) Dougherty, of Royersford, PA died early Friday morning, November 8th, 2013 in his home after a lengthy illness.  Born in Downingtown, PA, he is a son of John J. and Dorothy Ann (Scott) Dougherty, of West Chester, PA.  Dave was a 1979 graduate of the Downingtown High School.  He owned the Dave Dougherty and Associates Allstate Insurance Company in Spring House, PA for many years.  He was a very active long term member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Royersford.  Dave was an avid boater, and loved the time he was able to spend with his family and friends on the Chesapeake Bay. 

In addition to his parents and his wife of 28 years, Mr. Dougherty is survived by two sons: Brandon C. Dougherty and John Patrick Dougherty, both at home in Royersford; three sisters: Mary, wife of Dale Hunt, of West Chester, PA; Patricia, wife of Dan Lista, of Harleysville, PA; Karen, wife of Bill Schmitt, of Downingtown, PA; and seven nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lewis Road at Walnut Street, Royersford, PA on Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM.  Officiating will be the Rev. Timothy M. Judge.  Burial will be in the St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.  Friends will be received from 6:00 - 8:30PM Tuesday evening or from 9:00 - 9:45 AM Wednesday morning at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the USO of PA and Southern NJ, attention Paulette Cleveland, Philadelphia International Airport
