Pennsylvania's Primary Election is May 18. James Carminito seeks a seat on the Phoenixville Borough Council as a way to get involved in the community where he lives with his family.

He explained why he is running for election.

Party Affiliation: Democrat

Family: My wife Caitlyn and I have a 3-year-old daughter and almost 5-year-old son.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?: No

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, West Chester University; Master of Science in Educational Leadership, Saint Joseph's University; Master of Arts in Social Studies Education, University of Missouri.

Occupation: Teacher, 12 years

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: None

Why are you seeking elective office?: As a resident of Phoenixville for over 10 years I have personally witnessed the tremendous growth and progress that has taken place in our community. As I have gotten to know the town and its residents over the past few years I have learned how great of a town and community Phoenixville continues to be. I am running for Borough Council because I would like to get involved with helping this wonderful community continue to grow into a great place to live and work.

The single most pressing issue facing our borough is: My priorities for Phoenixville include smart investments in infrastructure and our community in order to meet the current and future needs of the coming years.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: I have passion for engaging in local government and would welcome the opportunity to be more involved in my community.
